The digital Uplay versions of the game were available to buy from GameStop in North America in December of 2020 but were sold out no later than April of 2021. Ubisoft’s homepage for the game links to Amazon where it was available to download on PC through late 2019. The game remains available on physical media for Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. No explanation or advanced notice was given but the reason for the delisting is likely due to the game’s impressive playlist of licensed songs.

This review is based on the Xbox 360 version of the game.Driver San Francisco was delisted between July 11th and August 11th, 2016 on Xbox 360. ( UPDATE: Apparently Ubisoft found a technical problem within the feature and has disabled it for all regions. (Editor's Note: Because of a packaging error, North American copies are all eligible for online pass) It’s a real disappointment to me that such an pillar feature of the series would be subject to anti- used games measures, and my opinion of the game suffers a little because of it.

And since I’m dumping on the Director for a split second, I’d like to also make note that Driver: SF requires a special pass in order to access the online multiplayer and the Film Director - this means that if you don’t buy the game new, you can either purchase the pass later or you can use a 48-hour one time trial period. The only drawback that I’ve witnessed to the co-op and multiplayer is that none of your games are recorded for the Film Director - that’s reserved for single player. Fans of more modern, sport cars will love Driver: San Francisco's selection of vehicles, too
